Former Princess of Japan, Mako Komuro, lands her first job as a museum volunteer after leaving the crown for love

Mako Komuro, Japan’s former princess, will now work at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York as a part-time employee.

Mako Komuro renounced her royal status after she wedded a commoner Kei Komuro last year.

The former princess married her love at a Tokyo registry office in October last year. Now Ms Komuro, Mako, is not a full-time employee at the Met as she is only volunteering.

She has already worked on an exhibition which was about hanging-scroll paintings. Mako Komuro is perhaps using her educational qualifications that are in art history at the museum.

The former princess has a degree in art and cultural heritage from an institute in Tokyo, International Christian University. However, she also has a master’s degree in a similar program from the University of Leicester.

While she was still a royal, Ms Komuro worked as a special researcher at the University of Tokyo’s museum.
