On Monday, France called Putin’s speech to the country about Ukraine “paranoid,” saying that he broke promises he made to his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, and that he could face “targeted” sanctions.
French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire told reporters on Tuesday that “We are going to put in place appropriate and targeted sanctions against Russian interests with our European partners.” He said that if Putin did more, France could “step up” the sanctions.
