In the first seven weeks of the fighting, the Ukrainian forces reduced 5,000 Russian combat vehicles to scrap metal. This material might be used to help restore the country’s infrastructure, but it must first be properly disposed of.
Forbes claims this, according to Ukrinform. “About 75,000 tonnes of carbon and stainless steel, 2,500 tonnes of aluminium, 1,000 tonnes of copper, more than 360 tonnes of titanium and magnesium, as well as 10 kg of platinum, 18 kg of gold, and 1.2 tonnes of silver are among the 85,000 tonnes of scrap metal,” the journalists assessed.
According to the publication, Ukraine amassed 4.1 million tonnes of scrap metal in 2021. 80 percent of this amount was utilised by Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises.
If the country sells all of its military equipment and metals, it can make around USD45 million, with $31 million in ferrous metals, $8 million in copper, $4 million in aluminium, $1 million in other non-ferrous metals, and $1 million in precious metals.
The process of recycling military scrap has its own specifics,, such as the fact that its disposal is a more complicated and time-consuming procedure that necessitates state control.
Russian army lost 19,600 military personnel, 157 warplanes, 732 tanks, 1,946 armoured combat vehicles, and other military equipment between February 24 and April 12, according to Ukrinform.
