Russian soldiers are preparing for a massive and concentrated assault to extend authority in eastern Ukraine, according to British intelligence. Mr. Zelenskyy also warned that Russia had placed tens of thousands of soldiers in preparation for further strikes.

Also late Monday, the UK foreign secretary said her country was working “urgently” to corroborate information of an alleged chemical weapons assault in Mariupol.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the Pentagon was actively watching the claims.
