Bjørn Arild Gram appointed Norway’s defense minister

Norway, a NATO member, appointed Bjørn Arild Gram as its new defense minister on Tuesday, after Odd Roger Enoksens, who resigned after confessing having an affair with a girl 17 years ago.

Bjørn Arild Gram, is a member of the Center Party, which is in a ruling coalition with the Labor Party of Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

He formerly held the position of minister of local government, but the position was given to party member Sigbjørn Gjelsvik.

Enoksen, 67, stepped down on Saturday in the wake of a newspaper revelation revealing his 2005 connection with a 17-year-old lady. He was appointed defense minister of Norway in October.

The unidentified lady told the VG newspaper that she “felt embarrassed” and that Enoksen “used his authority and position to obtain what he desired.”
