Will Ferrell has signed on to star with Margot Robbie in Warner Bros.’ all-star remake of the Mattel toy icon Barbie.
Robbie leads a cast that includes Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon and Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, and America Ferrera in the role of the fashion-forward doll.
The film’s script was written by Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, and Gerwig directed it. The manufacturing process has already begun.
The plot is being kept under wraps at a Malibu dream house, but sources say there is a meta element to the proceedings. Ferrell is rumoured to be portraying the CEO of a toy firm, which may be Mattel or not.
