The camera plays a leading role in capturing the moment of truth. Michal Kwiatkowski wins the race, and secures victory at the Amstel Gold Race, 2022, on Sunday.

After viewing the photo finish of the first two cyclists, Benoît Cosnefroy and Michal Kwiatkowski, the decision was made.
In 2021, the photo finish was also involved to cover the decisive moment. There was an exciting sprint between Wout van Aert and Tom Pidcock. The Tv cameras could not capture the win.
But, the photo finish decided the victory of Van Aert at Netherlands’ biggest cycling competition.
The history repeated itself on Sunday’s classic completion, as the cyclists were oblivious of the one who actually won.
They waited for the news to come, while race radio gave the victory to Cosnefroy.
Soon after the arrival of photo finish, the misunderstanding was cleared, and Kwiatkowski was declared the winner for the race.
There was confusion, as Cosnefroy started to celebrate the win, while Kwiatkowski had tears in his eyes.
KNWU official was responsible for the chaos, NOS started looking for it. The arrival judge, Armand van Mulken, said, “It was very difficult to see with the naked eye. I was too quick with the announcements, because in the finish photo you can see Kwiatkowski winning. It was millimeter work. The human eye and the computer are a world of difference after all.”
The official union said, “I was a bit too fast.”
It further adds, “How could it have happened? “Everyone wants to have the result immediately and you want to come up with a correct result very quickly. In this case I was a little too fast. I admit my mistake honestly. That’s too bad. But in the end, fortunately, the right people were honored. I am happy about that.”
