Aberdeenshire council candidate accused with disturbance

A candidate for Aberdeenshire Council has been charged in connection with a village disturbance.

There will be a court appearance scheduled for a 41-year-old male following an incident in Alford, Aberdeenshire on Saturday, according to Police Scotland.

Robbie Withey, who is running for re-election next month, is widely believed to be the candidate.

The Scottish Conservatives refused to comment on an ongoing legal matter.

One other person, aged 18, has been arrested and charged.
