According to another possible Valencia bidder, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has made an offer to buy the Spanish club.
Abramovich put Chelsea up for sale this month, but after being sanctioned by the UK government, he will not gain a dime from the sale.
After being sanctioned by the EU, the Russian businessman has been compelled to secure some of his assets, notably his £430 million yacht, Solaris.
However, Miguel Zorio, a Spanish investor who is bidding €248 million (£207.8 million) for Valencia, claims that the club’s current owner, Peter Lim, has also received an offer from Abramovich.
Peter Lim attempted but failed to sell the club in London for €250 million (£209.5 million),’ Zorio remarked.
‘Recently, he has leaked to worldwide media that he has two acquisition proposals, one from me and the other from a Russian oligarch from Chelsea.’
‘And from here, I tell him that he has two options: either put €50 million in every year to compensate for the losses he makes, or sell to us.’ It doesn’t matter if he likes it or not.’
Chelsea, on the other hand, is still no closer to completing their takeover from the Abramovich era, as the four shortlisted bidders have been offered an extension to submit improved proposals.
The Raine Group, the US merchant bank in charge of the club’s sale, wants to offer bidders “a full and fair opportunity to thoroughly finalise the contents of their proposals” before the deadline for better bids on Monday.
According to rumours published over the weekend, two groups, Todd Boehly and the Ricketts family, are planning to offer Chelsea supporters a ‘golden share’ as part of their proposal.
Following fan protests about their potential ownership, the Ricketts family issued an eight-point pledge to Chelsea supporters last week.
The Ricketts family swore that Chelsea would never join a European Super League, and that money would be invested to ensure the men’s and women’s teams’ continued success.
Meanwhile, Boehly was present at Stamford Bridge this week to witness Chelsea’s Champions League quarter-final loss to Real Madrid.
