On Friday, Saudi Arabia inaugurated the King Salman Iftar program in Sudan and South Sudan, which included the distribution of dates and food.

The Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance — represented by the religious attaché of the Kingdom’s embassy in Khartoum – organized the event.

Sudan’s Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Abdul Ati Ahmed Abbas, and Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Sudan, Ali bin Hassan Jaafar, were among those present.

During the holy month, over 15,000 food baskets and 10 tons of dates will be given across Sudan’s states.

Sudan’s minister complimented the Kingdom for its aid initiatives, claiming that they had benefited many people all around the world.

The ministry also handed food baskets to over 129,000 individuals in Bangladesh, as well as 15 tonnes of dates to over 45,000 people.

Issa bin Yusuf Al-Dahilan, the Saudi ambassador to Bangladesh, and Ali Al-Zgheibi, the embassy’s religious attaché, were both present at the inaugural event.

The ambassador explained, “Each basket has 20 kg of various food products.”

In Ethiopia, the Saudi ministry also delivered 800 Ramadan food baskets and 11 tonnes of dates to 8,000 people.

Ethiopian leaders expressed gratitude to the Saudi government for their assistance.

This year, the Kingdom initiated programs in 34 countries to give Iftar meals to about 1.2 million individuals throughout the holy month, which began on April 2.
