After being killed by a Russian tank burst, the body of a Ukrainian make-up blogger was identified by her distinctive manicure.
Iryna Filkina, 52, aspired to be a well-known beauty influencer and routinely shared cosmetic lessons on social media.
However, the woman’s body was tragically recognised in a distressing photograph of her hand coated in mud following a bombardment by Russian soldiers on March 5.
Her red and pink nails, complete with a heart on her index finger, assisted in identifying her, as she had uploaded a similar appearance just days earlier.
The hands in the shot were recognised by Anastasiia Subacheva, who told the New York Times, “When I saw it, I felt literally like my heart started racing.”
Iryna was a heating station operator who contacted Ms. Subacheva to enquire about cosmetics training in order to pursue her ambition of becoming known and boosting her Instagram followers.
However, the heartbreaking photo of her hand wasn’t the only terrible image of her death, as drone footage of the precise moment she was slain while carrying her bicycle home in a blue coat has emerged.
The footage shows her rounding a bend, oblivious to the presence of multiple Russian military vehicles. A shot was fired a split second later.
A month later, following Ukraine’s recovery of Bucha, a second video surfaced, showing the body of a cyclist with a blue coat resting on the roadway.
The victim’s daughter, who escaped Bucha before Vladimir Putin’s invasion, claimed she begged her mother not to bike home on the day her mother was slain, and suggested that she, too, depart the town.
Her mother, on the other hand, was unable to locate a method of transportation to leave town and had to pedal home. According to reports, she was only 15 minutes away from home when she was slain.
