According to Ukrainian defence ministry intelligence, the Russian forces responsible for the terrible war crimes committed against hapless people in Bucha are already on their way back to the frontlines.
Members of the 35th All-Russian Army’s 64th Motorised Rifle Brigade, which Ukrainian authorities blamed for the massacre of hundreds on the outskirts of Kyiv, evacuated from Bucha last week and landed in Mazyr, Belarus, yesterday.
The ‘butchers of Bucha’ left a path of murder and ruin in their wake, with Ukrainian officials discovering numerous mass graves and hundreds of victims who looked to have been tortured and killed over the weekend.
However, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense’s major intelligence directorate alleges that Russian commanders are refusing to rotate their brigades, with war criminals already on their way to Belgorod in Western Russia for redeployment.
According to a report on the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense’s website, the brigade is being dispatched to the “hottest locations,” most likely near Kharkiv, with the expectation that they will be murdered before being forced to testify before a war crimes trial.
‘Another aim of the 64th Brigade’s swift return to Ukrainian territory is the quick ‘disposal’ of unneeded witnesses,’ according to the report.
‘That is, redeployment to a section of the combat front where they have no prospect of survival, rendering them unable to testify in future hearings.’
According to intelligence, despite widespread opposition, Russian commanders are refusing to accept resignations from the perpetrators of the atrocities and are threatening any dissenters with court martial.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin maintains its denial of the claims of war crimes levelled against its forces, while Russian political analysts have gone so far as to say that the horrifying scenes were orchestrated by Ukraine and the West to discredit Putin.
According to Ukrainian officials, the butchers of Bucha will arrive in Belgorod tomorrow and will cross the border again on April 8 to wreak even more trouble.
The severity of the devastation wreaked by the 64th Motorized Rifle Brigade and other Russian forces in districts north of Kyiv has served as a sharp reminder of the atrocities of war, but Ukrainian officials believe the worst is yet to come.
Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, stated Wednesday that the proof of civilian fatalities in Bucha was only the beginning.
