Isolating Russia is completely impossible, says Kremlin

The Kremlin stated on Sunday that it is impossible to entirely isolate Russia while the West continues to impose sanctions on Moscow for its military operation in Ukraine.

“There can be no full vacuum or isolation of Russia; it is technologically impossible in today’s globe,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told Russian state television.

The world is “much larger than Europe,” he said, adding, “Sooner or later, whether some overseas want it or not, we will have to build a dialogue.”

After Moscow pushed soldiers into Ukraine on February 24, Western capitals hit Russia with unprecedented economic penalties.

Travel restrictions and asset freezes have also been imposed on a number of senior officials, including President Vladimir Putin.

In response to the idea of Putin meeting Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, Peskov stated that it would be “hypothetically feasible,” but would need a formal document agreed upon by both parties during peace talks with Kyiv.

Peskov stated that in order for the conference to take place, the delegates must submit a “particular document.”

“Not a collection of thoughts,” he said, “but a distinct written text.”

Earlier on Sunday, Russia’s main negotiator in truce negotiations with Ukraine suggested a top-level summit to settle the war was premature.
