Queen Elizabeth to attend Prince Philip’s Memorial

The Queen will attend Prince Philip’s memorial service today to honor her husband.

There were rumors regarding Her Majesty, 95, that she would not be able to attend the event because she has already some recent engagements.

Buckingham Palace remained quiet over whether the Queen would attend as aides revealed that she was committed to attend the event.

Buckingham Palace confirmed today that she is planning to lead her family in honoring the Duke of Edinburgh at Westminster Abbey.

A Palace spokesman said: “The Queen is currently intending to attend the service this morning.”

This will be Queen Elizabeth’s very first public appearance since February 5 after she faced a number of health issues including Covid-19.

It is also the first time she has taken part in outside one of her homes for five and a half months since travelling to Windsor Castle.

The Monarch missed the Commonwealth Day ceremony earlier in March due to concerns about her health.

She has also been seen using a walking stick over the last six months but she appeared in good form at Windsor last week when she met some people at her castle.

She also has been very involved in planning the service, which will feature things Philip planned for his funeral that were not allowed due to Covid.

Special arrangements will now be put in place in anticipation of the Queen’s arrival.

The service, which starts at 11.15am, is limited to 40 minutes and Her Majesty will be given an additional cushion.

Queen will not be filmed making her way through the back of the Abbey via a shorter route rather than her normal journey

The Queen will be joined by senior royals including Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex.

Prince Andrew will also be attending after he paid millions earlier this month to settle a civil sexual assault case.

His daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will also attend the memorial.

Boris Johnson with his wife will also show their support to the Queen.

Heir to the British throne, Prince Charles will sit beside his mother during the service after she sat alone at Philip’s funeral in Windsor.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be flying from the United States to honor the Duke due to a row over their security.

Prince Philip was associated with over 700 charities and organizations and undertook 22,200 individual engagements.

He also stood by the Queen’s side on many tours and was always by her side.

After Philip’s death in April, the Queen said she and her family were in a “period of great sadness” and were touched by tributes paid to him.

Philip was laid to rest in Windsor Castle on April 17, 2021 as Her Majesty was seen alone mourning for her husband of more than 70 years.
