Venus Williams has a wardrobe malfunction at the Oscars

The tennis star, who was dressed in a custom white, plunging Elie Saab gown, was sitting in her seat alongside her sister Serena Williams when the wardrobe malfunction occurred. The fashion faux pas was caught on camera by ABC, and fans on Twitter shared screen grabs of Williams holding her right arm over her chest.

“Oh my god, and a nip slip from Venus Williams.” “The Oscars have devolved into an episode of ‘The Jersey Shore,'” one user tweeted.

While such a fashion faux pas would have dominated headlines on Oscar night, Venus’ friend, Will Smith, stole the show.

During the live broadcast, Smith approached Chris Rock on stage and slapped him after the comedian made a “G.I. Jane” joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who is bald and suffers from alopecia, an auto immune condition that causes hair loss.

When Smith returned to his seat following the slap heard around the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, he told Rock to “keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth.”

Later that night, Smith won the Oscar for “Best Actor” for his performance as Richard Williams in “King Richard,” a biographical sports drama about Richard Williams, the father and coach of Venus and Serena Williams. The film was nominated for Best Picture as well.

Smith apologised to the Academy in a tearful acceptance speech after winning his first Oscar.

Venus Williams, who was dressed in Stuart Weitzman shoes and Tiffany & Co. jewels, posted a photo of her outfit on Instagram before her wardrobe malfunction at the awards show.

“This is beyond my wildest dreams.” What else can I say? Continue to fantasise. Continue your efforts. Continue to fight. You never know where life will take you. I’m originally from Compton, California. And now I’m letting you in. It’s great to be alive!”
