During a sailing trip, the Queen taught aide how to dance

A new book claims that the Queen taught an aide how to dance while on a sailing trip.

Her Majesty swept her top official onto the Royal Yacht Britannia’s dance floor and showed her some top moves.

The monarch, who is known to enjoy Scottish dancing, discovered that her duty private secretary, Mary Francis, had never tried it.

Ms Francis reveals in a new book that the Band of the Royal Marines played a medley of Scottish reels and the Queen taught her aide how to’strathspey’ and’skip-change.’

“There was one lovely evening when it became clear that I had never done Scottish country dancing,” Mr Francis said.

“There would be a dance, as there always is at Balmoral. ‘Well, we’ll have to teach you,’ the Queen and Duke said after dinner.”
