The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday disqualified a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker for submitting a fake degree.
He was disqualified for submitting fake degree to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
As per details, Kashif Chaudhary, a candidate from the PML-N, elected from PP-241 (Bahawalnagar 5) during the 2018 general elections.
He had defeated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Malik Mohammad Muzafar Khan with a margin of around 4,400 votes.
Chaudhary reportedly submitted a fake BBA degree to the ECP prior to the general elections.
The petitioner prayed upon the court to disqualify the PML-N lawmaker on the basis of Article 62(f) of the Constitution.
The high court also instructed the ECP to de-notify the lawmaker.
Earlier in April, the ECP disqualified Baluchistan Minister for Industries Mohammad Khan Toor Utmankhail for possessing a fake degree.
Kashif Chaudhary elected a member of the Baluchistan Assembly from PB-4 Loralai in the 2018 general elections on a ticket of the Baluchistan Awami Party.
The ECP removed the minister after the allegation of submitting a fake degree along with his nomination papers proved against him.
