Man charged with murdering a 22-year-old mother and leaving her toddler son drenched in blood

A man has been charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend in a “horrendous” attack that covered her toddler in blood.

Mackenzie Anderson, 21, also known as “Max,” was discovered dead outside her home in Mayfield, a Newcastle suburb in New South Wales, Australia, from “multiple stab wounds.”

The grisly crime scene left hardened senior police officers stunned, according to MailOnline.

Tyrone Thompson, 22, has been charged after being arrested at the scene. They claim he broke into Ms Anderson’s home before committing a “horrendous attack” in front of her three-year-old son.

Following the assault, which cops have linked to domestic violence, the young boy was left “covered in blood.”

Ms Anderson called 911 around 10.40 p.m. on the night of the attack, reporting that a man had broken in.

When cops arrived on Friday, they discovered the young mother covered in stab wounds on the landing outside her apartment. Despite the best efforts of the paramedics, she was unable to be saved.

When the suspect was taken to the hospital with a hand injury, he was in police custody.

In addition to the murder charge, Thompson has been charged with entering with intent and violating an apprehended domestic violence order.

The suspect is not believed to be related to the toddler.

The horrifying scene deeply affected the hardened police officers who discovered the young mother and her young son “covered in blood.”

“I’ve just spent the last 20 minutes or so viewing body worn footage and it was a horrendous scene, horrendous,” Newcastle City Commander Superintendent Wayne Humphrey said.

The child was not injured during the incident, according to police.

Ms Anderson was in recovery from a drug addiction that began when she was 16 and included the use of methamphetamine.

She revealed details about her personal struggle on Facebook in May 2019.

‘Addiction is a real thing, addiction is a disease that makes you too selfish to see the havoc and mess you’ve created in your life or care about the people whose lives you’ve shattered and hurt,’ she wrote.

“When you’re high, you lose sight of who you are.”

“I’ve been clean from ice for three years now, and I still consider myself a person in recovery; it was only in the process of repairing myself from being an addict that I discovered who I truly was.”

Superintendent Humphrey confirmed that the boy was not harmed and that he has been placed with relatives.
