The Sun has revealed the sickening luxury enjoyed by Vladimir Putin on board his £500 million superyacht, including tasteless gold loo roll holders.
Mad Vlad, whose forces are bombing women and children in Ukraine, didn’t skimp on the six-deck Scheherazade.
Pressure is mounting on Italy, where the yacht is docked, to seize and sell it in order to benefit Ukrainians.
“Russian people paid for it,” an ex-crew member said. Putin’s head needs to be flushed down that golden throne.”
The official cost of the Scheherazade when it was completed two years ago was $700 million, but insiders say it could be closer to $1 billion.
The Sun obtained images of six decks of luxury, and a worker who helped build it said, “Everything onboard is the best in the world.”
“Every surface is marble or gold. There are countless swimming pools, a spa, a sauna, a theatre, ballrooms, a gym, two helipads. It’s like a mini city.
“There is even a hospital which makes sense when you hear rumours of Putin being terminally ill.
“It is hard to swallow the fact that the most incredible ship in the world is owned by a man intent on bombing civilians in Ukraine.
“And it is an unimaginable amount of wealth when the average Russian’s salary is £5,000 a year, and people there are struggling to eat.”
The 459-foot-long floating palace, named after a legendary Persian queen, has been moored in Marina di Carrara, Italy, since September 2020.
Since the yacht’s construction, rumours have circulated that Putin owned it.
However, its ownership was not investigated until jailed Putin critic Alexei Navalny’s team released a video detailing the crew — all of whom were said to be Russian security — on Monday.
Authorities in Italy have now been urged to seize the yacht. It is said to have a separate European crew that is only permitted onboard when Putin is not present.
In a judo gym with framed pictures of black belts, there are personal notes to the despot.
A tiled dancefloor descends to form a pool. The floor is thought to be one of two in the world, the other being on Putin’s other yacht, Graceful.
A self-leveling pool table, a five-metre aquarium, and the largest TV built on a yacht, which cost a million euros to install, are among the other extravagances.
Gold toilet roll holders and taps adorn the bathrooms.
“Yachts owned by oligarchs are being seized all over the world,” the former crew member continued, “but the Schehezade is sitting there in plain sight in an Italian marina.”
“Something just doesn’t seem right.”
According to flight details obtained by Navalny’s team, the Russian crew flew together to Milan, the nearest airport.
