After a teenage girl was physically harassed in a park in Warwickshire, a teenage boy was arrested for performing an immoral act.
A 14-year-old has been arrested after a girl was assaulted in public in Bedworth on Saturday evening.
According to detectives, the girl was sitting with pals on the grass near the intersection of Walter Scott Road and Coalpit Fields Road in the days leading up to the event.
They were approached by another group between 6.45 and 7.15 p.m.
Before physically harassing the teenage girl, the boy from the group is said to have taken her away from the others.
Officers were dispatched to the scene. As part of ongoing investigations, the area has been sealed off, and multiple cops and police cars have been observed in the vicinity.
The boy is still being held by police, while the girl is being aided by specially trained officers.
The police presence had sparked neighbourhood worry about what had occurred.
A number of residents in the area had raised their concerns on social media.
Detective Inspector Collette O’Keefe at Warwickshire Police said: “We understand this incident is likely to cause concern among the local community but we would like to reassure them a full and thorough investigation has begun.
“We are carrying out extensive enquiries and pursuing a number of lines of enquiry as part of our ongoing work.
“Specially trained officers are providing support to the victim at this time and we have cordoned off an area at the bottom of Walter Scott Road where it meets the junction of Coalpit Fields Road as we conduct initial enquiries.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days while we look to establish exactly what happened.
“We would encourage anyone who was in the area between 6.45 pm and 7.15 pm on Saturday, who witnessed the incident or can help with our ongoing enquiries to get in touch.
“Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could be important so please contact us if you think you may be able to assist.”
Someone who observed the incident spotted anyone acting suspiciously, or was in the area at the time is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 and reference incident 415 of March.
