SC has opportunity to do away with horse-trading: Fawad

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said on Monday that the Supreme Court (SC) has the opportunity to do away with the rampant horse-trading, opportunism, and corruption in the country.

While taking to his Twitter, the minister maintained that the reference under Article 63-A would provide a window to the SC for the elimination of the horse-trading rampant since the no-confidence motion moved by the Opposition.

He opined that the disgruntled ministers should be punished as they were not only the party traitors but were unfaithful to the country too.

The government filed a presidential reference in the SC after several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers were found hiding at the Sindh House in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Imran Khan along with some other PTI leaders had earlier accused that the opposition was involved in horse-trading of the members ahead of the crucial vote on the no-confidence move against PM Imran Khan.

As per Article 63 A of the Constitution, a parliament member can be disqualified on the basis of defection if he votes against the directives of the party to which he belongs.
