LAHORE: Shaun Tait, a former Australian paceman, is enthusiastic about assisting Pakistani pacers in honing their skills, particularly in helping them thrive under duress.

The PCB has chosen the former Australian quick for a one-year contract. Since Waqar Younis’ resignation ahead of the T20 World Cup last year, Pakistan has been without a permanent bowling coach.

Shaun Tait was supposed to join the Pakistan squad on March 9, but his arrival was postponed due to the death of his father. He claims that the move has gone smoothly thus far and that he has had no problems.

“I joined the squad late for the Australian series but due to the wonderful dressing room environment faced no difficulty,” Tait said in a press conference.

Shaun Tait is ecstatic to be working with Pakistan’s young and gifted fast bowlers. He wants to improve their physical and mental capacities so that they can perform well under duress.

“I received a warm welcome. Pakistan is full of fast bowling talent. I am excited to work with talented young pacers in Pakistan. I will try to prepare them physically and mentally to perform better under pressure,” Tait said.

Shaun Tait has a high rating. As one of the most terrifying bowlers in the world and a former Australia bowling spearhead, Shaheen Afridi wants to assist him in honing his talents and reaching the peak.

“Shaheen Shah Afridi is one the most dangerous bowlers when he is fit and in action with all his skills. The main thing is to keep Shaheen efficient and keep his body up and going. If he’s near or around 100% fit and firing for the matches he plays he’s probably as close to the most dangerous bowler in the world right now,” Tait said.

Shaun Tait believes in aggressive fast bowling and wants to instil it in Pakistan’s fast bowlers as well.

“I have played aggressive cricket in my career. I want to see the same passion and aggression in the Pakistani bowlers,” he added.

This is Shaun Tait’s first high-profile coaching position since retiring from international cricket, and he is delighted to be associated with the sport.

“I joined coaching after my retirement with the mindset to stay connected to the game and help other cricketers,” Shaun Tait added.

“It is a proud moment to get a chance to work with the Pakistani bowlers. Karachi Test did not favour the fast bowlers from both teams. Such a situation occurs in Test Cricket.

“Pakistan is known to produce great fast bowlers in the past and they have a great bunch of pacers for now. Pakistan has a busy calendar for all three formats in the next twelve months. My aim is to help Pakistani fast-bowlers take off the pressure.”

Have a look

Shaun Tait, one of the world’s fastest bowlers at the time, has played three tests, 35 ODIs, and 21 T20Is for Australia.
