Lautaro Cardozo after hitting ball into opponent’s face breaks his leg

After being hit in the face by the ball, an Argentine footballer was sent off for falling on and breaking the leg of Lautaro Cardozo.

Juan Pablo Krilanovich played for Lanus reserves against Banfield in Argentina.

Lautaro Cardozo, a Banfield centre-back, was pressured by the 19-year-old winger.

However, as Cardozo attempted to clear his lines on the outskirts of his area, he accidentally smacked the ball into Krilanovich’s face.

Understandably, the No11 collapsed to the ground in pain.

However, as he fell, he collided with Cardozo’s right leg, locking it beneath his torso.

According to local reports, the poor player broke his shin bone.

Cardozo was plainly in excruciating pain, writhing in anguish after his knee had twisted awkwardly.

As the medical personnel treated the ailing Cardozo, the referee, teammates, and opponents all looked concerned.

To Krilanovich’s surprise, referee Martin Morenza then issued a red card during the play stoppage.

According to local accounts, Lautaro Cardozo was dragged away on a stretcher and sent to the hospital with a critical injury.

Banfield took advantage of the additional player, coming back from a 1-0 deficit to earn a 1-1 draw in an Argentine Reserves LPF league match.

Fans on Twitter, on the other hand, couldn’t believe the shockingly harsh refereeing judgement.

One said: “I don’t know what’s worse, the bad luck of the injury or being sent off for it.”

Another replied: “The whole play is very unlucky.”

And a third wrote: “The refereeing is a disaster.”

Krilanovich, a 2002-born attacker, joined Lanus in 2008 and quickly rose through the ranks.

He was a member of the Argentina squad that won the South American Under-15 Championship in 2017 and the U17 Championship the following year.

Krilanovich, who is of Croatian descent, scored at the Fifa U17 World Cup in Brazil later that year.
