Here’s why a guy choked his lover to death

According to authorities, a 23-year-old Hawaii man admitted to murdering his much-older boyfriend after learning he had HIV, in a plan in which the Honolulu resident attempted to cover up the homicide by encasing the victim’s rotting body in concrete in a bathtub.

After dead 73-year-old Gary Ruby was found Tuesday entombed in cement in a tub at his $2.2 million gated Honolulu home, California detectives nabbed Juan Tejedor Baron soon after 5 p.m. Wednesday in connection with the brutal murder.

Following the murder, Baron attempted to leave the country, making it as far as a bus station in California before being captured by LA cops who discovered him ‘hiding in a crawl space under an enclosed bench’ on a Mexico-bound bus, according to authorities.

Now, over a week after his arrest, Baron has confessed to the murder, telling detectives that he murdered lifelong Honolulu resident Ruby – with whom he had been in a love connection – after learning she was HIV positive.

Baron said investigators he killed the victim after he told him he had HIV during a sexual encounter in February, prompting the suspect to strangle his much older lover with a belt.

According to the warrant, ‘Baron indicated that he had intercourse with Gary but grew enraged after Gary informed Baron that Gary was HIV-positive.’

Baron said authorities he then took the elderly man’s body to the bathtub before slitting Gary’s wrists with a kitchen knife in an attempt to fabricate a suicide.

Baron then admitted to trying to cover up the crime by pouring cement from Ruby’s garage and coffee grounds over the victim’s corpse in the tub before realising he didn’t have enough to completely submerge the deceased senior, according to cops.

‘Baron then drove to Lowe’s to buy four more bags of concrete and filled the bathtub to the brim, smothering Gary,’ according to the lawsuit.

To help hide the scent of Ruby’s rotting body, Baron added coffee grounds to the bathtub mixture, according to police.
