Ukraine claims that a Russian drone was shot down after ‘flying into Polish airspace’ in violation of Nato territory

A RUSSIAN drone was shot down in Ukraine today, according to reports, after it allegedly flew into Polish airspace.

The drone is said to have circled the Ukrainian city of Yavoriv before flying over Poland, where it violated Nato territory.

According to 24 TV, the Ukrainian Armed Forces said the drone appeared to be assessing damage to the Yavoriv military base near Lviv over the weekend, after missile strikes killed at least 35 people.

It was then reported to have flown over Poland before returning to Ukrainian airspace and being shot down by the country’s air defence.

“As we can see, the occupiers continue to carry out their provocative actions without hesitation, flying into the airspace of Nato member states,” a spokesperson for Ukrainian forces said.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, Putin’s forces launched missile strikes just 12 miles from Poland’s border with Ukraine.

At least 35 people were killed and 134 were injured in the airstrike on the Yavoriv military base near Lviv.

Russian forces launched more than 30 cruise missiles at the base, prompting officials to warn Vladimir Putin that he may begin “provoking” Nato countries.

Poland is a member of the 30-nation defensive military alliance, which also includes the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Germany.

And Britain’s health secretary, Sajid Javid, vowed yesterday that if Putin attacks a Nato country, Britain will go to war with Russia.

“We’ve been very clear from the start, with our Nato allies, that any kind of attack on Nato territory will be war with Nato, and there will be a severe response,” Mr Javid said.

“Even if a single toecap of a Russian soldier steps into Nato territory, Russia will declare war, and Nato will respond.

“That hasn’t changed throughout the conflict, and any kind of Russian attack would elicit a significant response from Nato.

“Our message has been crystal clear from the beginning. We would respond to any kind of attack, anything that touches Nato territory or has a significant impact on Nato.”

His remarks come on the heels of a significant increase in Nato allies’ deployment to Eastern Europe in recent months.

According to Ukrainian estimates, Russia has lost over 12,000 troops in nearly three weeks of fighting, as well as hundreds of tanks and aircraft.

There have been widespread reports of extremely low morale, with equipment frequently breaking down and food and fuel in short supply.
