If Putin attacks, Britain will go to war with Russia. NATO issues a warning. Sajid Javid following a strike just 12 miles from the Polish border

Sajid Javid, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, said today that Britain is prepared to join a war against Russia if crazed dictator Vladimir Putin attacks a NATO country.

This morning, the Health Secretary warned the Kremlin that any aggression would be met with a “significant response.”

Last night, Russia launched missile strikes just 12 miles from Poland’s border with Ukraine, raising fears of a new global conflict.

Warsaw is a member of the 30-nation defensive military alliance, which also includes the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Germany.

“We’ve been very clear from the start, with our NATO allies, that any kind of attack on NATO territory will be war with NATO, and there will be a severe response,” Mr Javid said.

“Even if a single Russian soldier’s toecap steps into NATO territory, it will be war with Russia, and NATO will respond.”

“That hasn’t changed throughout the conflict, and if there was any kind of escalation, NATO would respond strongly.”

“Our message has been very clear from the start. Any kind of attack, anything that touches NATO territory or impacts NATO in any significant way, then we would respond.”

Last night Russian forces fired more than 30 cruise missiles at the Yavoriv military base near Lviv in the west of Ukraine.

At least 35 people were killed and 134 were injured in the strike on the base, where foreign instructors were assisting Ukrainians.

People on the Polish side of the border were able to see the explosions that lit up the sky.

Last week, armed forces minister James Heappey, a former Army major, stated that Putin would be desperate to avoid a conflict with NATO.

He claimed that the Alliance would “completely outmatch the Russian military in terms of both technology and mass.”

NATO allies, including the United Kingdom and the United States, have significantly increased their deployments to Eastern Europe in recent months.
