‘Imran Khan to inaugurate Green Line project gifted by Nawaz Sharif to Karachi’

KARACHI: Former Sindh governor Muhammed Zubair on Thursday said the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit Project (BRT), which Prime Minister Imran Khan was going to inaugurate on December 10, was a gift of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to Karachi.

“The Green Line project was given by the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) to Karachi. It had to be completed by 2018, but the incompetent government took three years to complete the 10 per cent remaining work of the project,” said Muhammed Zubair while addressing media in Karachi. Former minister for planning and development Ahsan Iqbal and former finance minister Miftah Ismail were also present on this occasion.

Taking a dig at Imran Khan for deriding the PML-N for Lahore’s Metro Bus, Ahsan Iqbal said those who used to call the Metro Bus a “jangla bus” were coming to inaugurate another bus project of the PML-N.

“Imran Saab, do you realise now that a country progresses with construction of motorways and arteries,” he asked. You would soon understand that the PML-N had done everything for development of Pakistan, he said.

Ahsan Iqbal said if given a chance, his party would again make Karachi the best city. In 2013, the PML-N gave priority to Karachi and revived more than 200 small factories, he said.
