Karachiites face worst traffic jam as city celebrates Sindh culture day

KARACHI:  Karachiites on Sunday faced the worst traffic jams as festivities of Sindh Culture Day were commemorated in the metropolis, causing several kilometer-long queues of hundreds of vehicles stuck on main roads of the city.

According to details, University Road, Shahra Faisal, Metropole Hotel and arteries around the Karachi Press Club were choked after a large number of people gathered at the KPC to celebrate the Sindhi Culture Day.

The traffic flow on Safari Park, Saffura Chaurangi, Sachal Goth, Mosamiyat Chaurangi also remained disturbed as rallies from different localities were being taken out to mark the day. The residents suffered hour-long severe traffic gridlock as the traffic police seemed ineffective in controlling and maintaining traffic flow.

Sindhi Cultural Day

Scores of people from all walks of life attired in traditional Sindhi topi and Ajrak to mark the Sindhi Cultural Day across the province. Every year on the first Sunday of December the Sindh Cultural Day is celebrated all over Sindh.  Almost all the nationalist, political parties, social, civil, and other organizations on the day took out rallies from various parts of the district to commemorate the day. The celebration this year started early in the morning while continued till evening.
