Vast potential for increasing trade, investment between US, Pakistan: Diplomat

KARACHI: United States Consul General Mark Stroh after visiting Balochistan’s largest industrial cities Hub remarked that “there is vast potential for increased trade and investment” between Washington and Islamabad.

“I am pleased to have had the opportunity to visit Hub and continue to explore the achievements and opportunities in the decades-long US relationship with Pakistan. There is vast potential for increased trade and investment between our two countries, and our partnerships in climate change, health, and education promote our mutual prosperity,” Consul General Mark Stroh was quoted about his December 2 trip to Hub in a press release.

The US consulate in Karachi said that the Stroh was visiting Hub to explore opportunities for US technologies and businesses in the province and strengthen US-Pakistan economic ties.

During the trip, Stroh had toured the 1,292 megawatts (MW) HUBCO power plant and also met with the leadership of the company.

Apart from HUBCO, the US diplomat also visited Ismail Industries and the Gatron-Novatex plant.

The press release said that the consul general also visited the non-profit Roshan Pakistan Academy.

Roshan provides primary education for marginalised communities in Hub, Balochistan and Gulshan-e-Mazdoor, Karachi.

The school has been founded by Humaira Bachal, an alumna of the US-funded Emerging Leaders of Pakistan exchange program.
