If anyone is ok with govt-IMF deal, he must get his mental balance checked: Iqbal

Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ahsan Iqbal has said that if anyone is ok with the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government’s agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on its terms, then he must get his “mental balance checked”.

Lashing out at the government on Twitter last night, the former minister for planning and development said, “As a Pakistani, if anyone is not ashamed of the IMF agreement on its terms and accepting money by surrendering country’s sovereignty then he must get his mental balance checked.”

According to Iqbal, his name had vanished from Narowal in the new voter list and reached the old address of Lahore mentioned on his national identity card.

“Countless complaints are being received from the masses. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) staff is saying that I have to change my CNIC. If new CNIC has to be made (by people) then there is a risk of wasting millions of votes,” he said, demanding from the chief election commissioner to take note of the irregularity.

He blasted the government for pushing Pakistan into the worst economic catastrophe.

“In 2017, Pakistan was on the path of development. Inflation was almost non-existent. The CPEC was changing the destiny of the country,” he said.

“By imposing an incompetent and stubborn person on the nation and pushing the country into the worst, misery, inflation, unrest, unemployment, global isolation and corruption, what revenge has been taken from the nation?” he asked.
