LAHORE: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has decided to implement a seven-point guideline to provide the masses hassle-free services at police stations across the province.
According to the first point of the SoP, related to case management, entry of every person in the police station shall be recorded in a register placed at the reception of the station wherein the reason for coming to the station will be recorded briefly.
An E-tag shall be issued to every complaint. Every 15 calls shall be tagged in CMS. The prescribed timelines for disposal of complaints shall be followed. The complainant shall be provided the name and contact number of the inquiry officer.
The brochure of the timelines shall also be provided to the complainant. The inquiry officer shall have the checklist with him for disposal of the complaint. Similarly, in case of loss report of the financial document, an affidavit will be received from the complainant.
Point two of the SoPs is related to registration of FIR, (a) the timeline of registration shall be followed. A message shall also be sent to the complainant about registration of the FIR wherein section of offense and name of the investigation officer will be shared.
According to point three of the guideline, related to dissemination of schedule of inquiries and investigations, (a) the schedule of inquiries and investigations shall be posted on the reception of the police station as well as on the website. Police officers shall only call the parties to the police station when IOs are available.

Point four of the SoPs is related to the investigation of the offense.
In matters related to the arrest of the accused, a raid form shall be filled by the IO and duly attested by the SHO to ensure preparedness for the arrest of the accused.
In case of a raid for the arrest of the PO wanted in cases of ATA or multiple murders, the form will be attested by the concerned DSP and custody form of all the accused shall be duly completed. Moreover, bail shall be granted in bailable offenses.
As Police Station Management, the area of PS will be distributed into beats. Resources will be distributed accordingly, Beat Books will be maintained.
The SHO shall sign the beat book once a week so that he ensures up-gradation of data. A whiteboard will be affixed outside the lock-up on which name and offense of the person in custody will be written and Moharar shall be responsible for updating it.
Cameras will be installed in the lock-up, SHO’s office, and front desk shall be operational and biometric attendance shall be made by all officers.
When an officer leaves he shall enter attendance in the daily diary. While the SHO will give a morning briefing to all the officers and buddy system shall be strictly followed.
Entries in the online daily diary shall be made in real-time and the SHO shall give a weekly certificate of completion of record to the SDPO.
According to the guidelines, under the front desk management duty shall be performed in three shifts. Provision of online connectivity, AC and water dispenser shall be ensured by the SHO and a guide constable shall be appointed in the PS to assist people in the PS to get their issues resolved.
The SoPs have been issued by Waqar Azeem, PSO to IGP Punjab, directing the entire senior hierarchy of the police to ensure its implementation across the province immediately.
