Bordeaux-Begles surge past Racing 92 in Top 14

Bordeaux-Begles came from behind to record a resounding 37-14 win away to Racing 92 to consolidate second spot in the Top 14 on Sunday.

Argentinian international Santiago Cordero scored three tries for Bordeaux and Australian Ulupano Seuteni notched two as the visitors overpowered the side from the capital.

It was the perfect Bordeaux riposte to their 26-3 drubbing by La Rochelle before the international break.

“I’ve got my team back,” said coach Christophe Urios.

The visitors were clumsy in the first half as Racing roared into the lead as Teddy Thomas and Camille Chat both touched down.

But a very different Bordeaux emerged for the second period, inspired by a sparkling Cordero as the Racing defence crumbled.

“Racing like to attack but aren’t so keen on defending so we exploited that,” Bordeaux’s Maxime Lucu said.

Bordeaux are two points behind league leaders Toulouse who ground out an 18-11 home victory against Brive on Saturday.

The reigning French and European champions needed six penalties from Thomas Ramos, including kicks in the 75th and 82nd minutes, to edge out the visitors.

Montpellier are third, eight points behind Bordeaux, after a 25-24 win against Castres.
