Pakistan earns $140.994 million from travel services’ export in three months

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan earned $140.994 million by providing different travel services in various countries during the first three months of the current financial year 2021/22.

This shows the growth of 71.73 per cent, compared with the $82.100 million of same services provided during the corresponding period of the last fiscal year 2020/21, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported.

During the month under review, the personal travel services increased 71.93 per cent to $140.584 million during July-September 2021 from $81.770 million last year.

Among these personal services, the exports of personal expenditure rose 183.15 per cent, while the education-related expenditure increased 255.88 per cent.

In addition, the other personal services witnessed an increase of 69.92 per cent.

Meanwhile, the exports of business services increased 24.24 per cent to $0.410 million from $0.330 million, the PBS data revealed.

The overall exports of services during July-September (2021/22) were recorded at $1.572 billion against the exports of $1.275 billion in July-September (2020/21), showing a growth of 23.20 per cent.

The imports from the country also rose 26.54 per cent, as it grew to $2.289 billion during the period under review from $1.809 billion last year.

Based on the figures, the services’ trade deficit widened 34.53 per cent to $717.21 million during the first three months of the current year, compared with the deficit of $533.11 million last year.
