ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday suspended Lahore High Court’s decision to stay an inquiry in a case pertaining to a hike in oil and ghee prices and ordered an inquiry against the mills.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial heard the case and pointed out mistakes in LHC’s decision.
The commission initiated an inquiry against 117 mills on the complaint, wrote letters to 117 ghee mills for information, and initiated an investigation into the increase in ghee prices following the responses received.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah observed that the authority passed the order without writing letters to the ghee mills.
“Who gave the authority to the joint director to start the investigation,” the justice questioned.
The lawyer of the commission said that inquiries against ghee mills have been stopped following the order of the Lahore High Court.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah inquired why the mills were summoned without being given a reason.
Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked that the order of the Lahore High Court was being suspended and the commission should conduct an inquiry.
The court adjourned the hearing.
