Earlier on Wednesday, incumbent Lt Gen Hameed also met President Dr Arif Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr in the capital.

Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum is replacing Lt Gen Hameed this month as the new chief of the ISI. A notification issued by the Prime Minister’s Office in October had confirmed his appointment.

“The prime minister has seen and approved the appointment of PA-27007 Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum, HI (M) as director general Inter-Services Intelligence, with effect from 20, November 2021, from the panel of officers at para 6 of the summary,” read the notification.

Lt Gen Hameed will continue to hold the charge as the spymaster till November 19 (tomorrow), according to the notification.

The notification came after PM Imran met Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa for the “final round of consultations” on the key appointment.
