According to the new medical science research, there is a possible therapeutic link between drugs for treating heartburn and an improved outlook for people who have gum disease.

The study finds a difference between the consumer who consumes heartburn medications and those who are only consuming the medicine for gum disease the results are different in people who use heartburn medications compared with those who do not.

In individuals who used the stomach acid-reducing drugs, 14% of teeth that researchers studied had a reduced gum line depth of at least 6 millimeters (mm) compared with 24% of those who did not.

Future studies are necessary to clarify how these drugs may affect gum disease and how useful they can be in treatments.
