PPL bags top Corporate Philanthropy Award

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) received the highest Corporate Philanthropy Award for being the largest corporate giver in terms of volume of donations during 2019/20, a statement said.

The Pakistan Center for Philanthropy (PCP), which organised the event, judged the winner based on their research-based annual philanthropy survey. The company has maintained the top slot for the 16th consecutive year in the large national category.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin presented the award to PPL chief community development officer Kamran Sher. The event was attended by business leaders, development professionals and media.

The PPL’s corporate social responsibility programme, spanning over six decades, shares the benefits of development with the stakeholder communities.

The scope, outreach and financial input of the PPL’s CSR portfolio has substantially increased over the years to support several projects in education, healthcare, infrastructure development, livelihood generation and sports for deserving communities in operational, as well as large urban areas.

Going beyond the dedicated financial input of 1.5 per cent of its annual pre-tax-profit for CSR initiatives, the PPL’s actual spending in 2019/20 was Rs1.75 billion, which is around 2.5 per cent of its pre-tax-profit for the year.

During 2020/21, PPL crossed the Rs2 billion mark, which is the largest-ever CSR contribution made by the company.
