Head of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) announced on Thursday that the “national average” of coronavirus vaccination has climbed to 48 per cent.
The minister on Twitter informed the nation that 52 per cent of the “eligible population” in Punjab has had at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine. Punjab also became the first province to cross the milestone, he added.
“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa follows with 48 per cent, Sindh 40 per cent and Balochistan at 17 per cent. Federal territories, leading in vaccination with Islamabad 87 per cent, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 59 per cent and Gilgit Baltistan 54 per cent. The national average has reached 48 per cent,” tweeted Umar.

As per the NCOC, currently, more than 106 million doses of the coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the country.
A further breakdown shows that more than 71 million people have received the first dose at least, while more than 41 million have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Pakistan logs 580 news Covid-19 cases
Despite the good news, Pakistan on Thursday reported 580 new coronavirus cases and 19 deaths in the country.
The data issued from the NCOC showed that the number of confirmed cases has risen to 1,275,158 after over 500 new cases were reported. As per the data 43,901 tests were conducted nationwide, out of which 580 returned positive, making the national positivity ratio 1.32 per cent.
On the other hand, the countrywide death toll rose to 28,496 after 19 people lost their lives to the coronavirus.
