Chaman-Spin Boldak crossing reopens after a month’s closure

Chaman-Spin Boldak border is now open: Envoy Mansoor Khan

Chaman-Spin Boldak crossing reopens after a month’s closure

KABUL: After about a month’s closure, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kabul Mansoor Ahmad Khan announced on Tuesday that the Chaman-Spin Boldak crossing between Afghanistan and Pakistan is now open.

“Chaman-Boldak Gate is now open. Pedestrian and trade vehicles started crossing. We welcome Afghan fruit trucks moving to Pakistan. Urge all concerned on both sides to devote their energies to ensure smooth movement of people and trucks,” tweeted the envoy.

The announcement came a day after Mansoor had announced that Islamabad and Kabul had reached an agreement on the reopening of the border.

The envoy added that two sides will ensure facilitative movement of people and trade.

On October 5, the Taliban government had closed the Afghanistan’s border with Pakistan in Balochistan.

They had alleged that the border was closed as the “traders, patients and passengers were facing difficulties”.
