ISLAMABAD: Pakistan earned $2.123 billion by providing different information technology (IT) services in various countries during the fiscal year 2020/21, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported.
This shows a growth of 47.44 per cent, compared with $1.439 billion earned through the provision of services during the corresponding period of the fiscal year 2019/20, it added.
During the period under review, the computer services grew 50.32 per cent, as it surged from $1.10 billion last fiscal year to $1.66 billion during July-June 2020/21.
Among the computer services, the exports of software consultancy services witnessed an increase of 35.50 per cent to $5.54 billion from $4.08 billion, while the export and import of computer software-related services also rose 30.88 per cent to $4.17 b from $3.18 billion.
The exports of hardware consultancy services decreased 71.84 per cent to $0.551 million from $1.957 million, whereas the exports of repair and maintenance services also decline 56.19 per cent to $0.662 million from $1.511 million.
In addition, the exports of other computer services rose 83.88 per cent to $6.93 billion from $3.77 billion.
Meanwhile, the export of information services during the period under review increased 56.47 per cent by going up to $3.990 million from $2.550 million.
Among the information services, the exports of news agency services increased 69.41 per cent to $2.304 million from $1.360 million, whereas the exports of other information services also increased 41.68 per cent to $1.686 million from $1.190 million.
The export of telecommunication services also witnessed an increase of 37.63 per cent, as these went up to $4.52 billion during the fiscal year under review from $3.28 billion, the data revealed.
Among the telecommunication services, the export of call centre services increased 22.10 per cent during the period, as its exports increased to $1.53 billion from $1.25 billion, whereas the export of other telecommunication services also increased 47.28 per cent to $2.98 billion from $2.02 billion during the period under review, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data showed.
