Lionel Messi is a football player who plays for FC Barcelona and the national team of Argentina. He has made a name for himself by setting a record for goals scored and has also earned several awards which gave him worldwide recognition for being one of the best soccer players.
Messi moved to Spain from Argentina after Barcelona’s football club at the age of 13 after they were ready to pay for his medical remedies.
He made his football club win more than two dozen league titles and tournaments in Spain and earned a name as one of the greatest players of history. Messi has made a record for scoring the most goals in 2012 and was named Europe’s Ballon d’Or winner in 2019 for the sixth time.
Born in 1987, in Rosario, Messi grew up playing soccer with his two older brothers and their friends. He was asked to join a Rosario-based club for the youth – Newell’s Old Boys at the age of 8.
