Cold wave likely to continue in Karachi, predicts PMD

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in a weather report has predicted that the ongoing cold spell in Karachi will likely to last few more days.

According to the Met Office, the minimum temperature of the city was recorded 8.5°Celsius whereas the maximum temperature in the daytime could remain between 24 – 26 ºCelsius today.

Northerly/Northeasterly winds are blowing in the city with the wind speed 07-09 nautical miles per hour and humidity at 67 percent.

Rain-thunderstorm (with snowfall over hills) is expected in the Federal Capital Islamabad, upper and central Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over hills and few hailstorms is expected in Islamabad, upper/central Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next twelve hours.

However, cold and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country.

Isolated heavy falls are likely to occur in north eastern Punjab, Potohar region and Kashmir while snowfall is also expected in Murree and Galiyat. Dense fog is likely in plain areas of south Punjab and upper Sindh.

The temperature of some major cities recorded this morning: 

Islamabad 9 degree centigrade, Lahore and Peshawar 10, Karachi 8.5, Quetta -5, Gilgit – 3, Murree 0, and Muzaffarabad 4 degree centigrade.
