New Zealand captain Kane Williamson on Tuesday joined an elite list of Kiwi players to complete 7000 test runs.
According to media reports, he became the 13th fastest batsman to achieve the milestone during his marathon 238 against Pakistan in the ongoing 2nd Test in Christchurch.
This was Williamson’s second double hundred in just over a month after the 251 he scored against the West Indies in Hamilton on December 3 last year.
Williamson was dismissed for 238 shortly before tea, while Nicholls was out for 157 soon after lunch, but not before a stack of milestones had been recorded.
Resuming at 286-3, the pair faced three maiden overs to start the day but once they got going, the runs flowed freely.
At tea, New Zealand was 599-6, with a lead of 302, with Daryl Mitchell unbeaten on 69.
