Pakistani Athlete Tahira Hameed Passed Away At 86

The founder of women’s cricket in Pakistan, Tahira Hameed, died recently in Karachi on Saturday at the age of 85.

Deemed as one of the biggest athletic personalities in Pakistan women’s sports, Hameed was recognized for displaying her athletic abilities at various national-level sports matches. From 1952 to 1956, Tahira Hameed has played on the behalf of Pakistan at Wimbledon twice.

Furthermore, she also established women’s cricket in Pakistan in 1975.

She is the descendant of the first secretary-general of the Pakistan Olympic Association, S A Hameed. Also, a sibling to Farooq Hameed, former fast bowler, and Major Babar Hameed.
