A hashtag of #Karachiuniversityisnotsafe popped up on twitter and trended on social media after the University of Karachi (KU) initiated an investigation of the October 5 harassment of two students of a private institute inside the university.
According to the details, the Security adviser Dr. Moiz Khan is heading the investigation. In his statement, he said the incident occurred on October 5. On October 7, the administration was briefed about the incident.
He also confirmed that they have not handed over the matter to the police. We will investigate the matter and act according to the law, he vowed.
As soon as the incident was reported, the security authorities inside University premises arrested seven people on the base of suspicion.
The police have said that the varsity is investigating the matter internally and that no one from the administration had approached them, nor had the students who were harassed.
