University Road closure for K-IV water pipeline project in Karachi.

Karachi: Commuters in Karachi are expected to face significant traffic disruptions as work begins on the Karachi Water and Sewerage System Improvement Project (KWSSIP) under the K-IV water supply initiative.

According to KWSSIP officials, the stretch of road from NIPA Chowrangi to Federal Urdu University will remain closed from November 10 to December 30 for the laying of new water pipelines.

The closure comes shortly after the ongoing Red Line BRT construction, further impacting traffic movement on one of Karachi’s busiest corridors.

Officials stated that under the K-IV project, a 2.7-kilometer network of 96-inch and 72-inch pipelines is being installed along University Road. The project will be executed in two phases:

Phase 1: NIPA Chowrangi to Federal Urdu University.

Phase 2: Hassan Square to NIPA Chowrangi.

During the construction period, traffic will be diverted from NIPA Chowrangi towards Aladdin Park as an alternate route.

Authorities have urged commuters to plan their routes accordingly and expect delays in the area until the completion of work by December 30.
