White House slams Nobel Peace Prize decision, Claims Trump was more deserving

The White House on Friday strongly criticized the Norwegian Nobel Committee for awarding the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, saying that former US President Donald Trump was more deserving of the honour.

“President Trump will keep making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and no one like him can move mountains through his will,” said White House spokesperson Steven Cheung in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Cheung added that the Nobel Committee chose politics over peace by ignoring Trump’s efforts.

The Nobel Committee said it honored Machado for her fight against authoritarianism and described her as one of the “brave defenders of freedom who rise and resist.”

Trump, who has long sought the Peace Prize, recently announced a ceasefire and hostage deal aimed at ending the war in Gaza. While he has not commented directly on the Nobel decision, he posted three videos on Truth Social showing supporters praising the Gaza peace deal.
