Chairman of the Intermediate Board Karachi, Faqir Muhammad Lakho, announced that top students from government colleges in the city will be given electric bikes under the Prime Minister’s initiative.
The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA) has also promised full scholarships for position holders so they can continue their higher studies free of cost.
A special ceremony is being planned where Karachi’s best students, along with their parents and special guests, will be invited. At this event, the electric bikes, which have already been delivered, will be handed over to the position holders. Officials said the program will continue every year until 2030.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had earlier launched a nationwide scheme to distribute electric bikes among top students as part of the government’s plan to promote eco-friendly transport and the use of electric vehicles.
Under this scheme, 100,000 electric bikes will be given out across the country, along with 3,000 electric rickshaws and loaders. Position holders from all educational boards will qualify for the bikes, while unemployed citizens will receive the rickshaws and loaders.
