In a brief national address, he announced that all household electricity bills for August have been waived for flood-affected areas. He added that this is not a favor, but the right of the affected people.
The Prime Minister said those who have already paid their August bills will get the amount adjusted in their next month’s bill.
He explained that the government is also assessing electricity bills for agricultural, commercial, and industrial sectors in the affected regions to plan further relief. Power distribution companies have already been directed to follow these orders.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that the scale of destruction in flood-hit areas is massive, leaving many people without shelter. He called this relief package a small effort to ease their suffering and assured that the government would fully rehabilitate every affected person.
He stressed that the government will not rest until all flood victims are resettled and their lives return to normal.
