Lower Kurram: At least five people were killed when unidentified assailants opened fire on a passenger vehicle in Lower Kurram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here on Wednesday.
According to police, the attackers targeted the vehicle, killing five passengers on the spot before fleeing the scene. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, officials added.
Earlier, at least two police personnel were martyred when unidentified gunmen opened fire in the Machan Khel Adda area of Lakki Marwat.
According to officials, the policemen were on their way from Begu Khel village to report for duty when assailants targeted them. Both officers died on the spot.
Police have launched a search operation in the area to trace the attackers, while security has been tightened to prevent further incidents.
Authorities said investigations are underway, and the culprits will be brought to justice.
A police spokesman said that the attackers fled, after which their bodies were shifted to City Hospital.
